2019-2020 Board of Directors – Elected Officers

President: Shelly Bean

I am honored to serve a fourth year as an elected officer for Timber Ridge Elementary PTSA. I have many previous experiences that make me a strong and knowledgeable leader and advocate for our community. I worked in the Lake Washington School District for 12 years as an elementary teacher, math and science teacher leader, and staff developer. I have a Master’s Degree in Education and also earned my National Board Teacher Certification as a Middle Childhood Generalist. Now, after a complete 180° life change, I run a real estate company specializing in relocation. I have three children; Madeline who is a 6th grader and 6 year old twins entering first grade this year. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to continue building our school community!

Co-Vice President: Karen Volkman

I moved to Snoqualmie Ridge in 2008 and live in the Deer Park neighborhood. I have one son, Gavin, who will be in the 1st grade this year. After a wonderful kindergarten year and learning how the school and PTSA works, I am very excited for the opportunity to join the Timber Ridge PTSA board as your Co-Vice President. Born and raised on the Eastside, I earned a bachelor’s degree in politics from Willamette University. I am currently a front-end web developer and look forward to using those skills to help with the website. In addition, I have a background in fundraising, project management and event planning and cannot wait to organize some really fun events for our students, teachers and staff this year!

Co-Vice President: Faith Waldo

I grew up not far from the Valley and am blessed enough to have lived in this wonderful area almost  for over five years now. My family has put roots down right here in Snoqualmie Ridge and excited as we start our elementary adventures. My oldest son will be a kindergartener this year and my youngest won’t be far behind. Over the past several years I have volunteered much of my time as a board member of our neighborhood’s sub HOA as well as actively involved in the community, our sons teams, and pretty much anything else I can find to keep busy! I look forward to serving you for many years to come!

Secretary: Jessica Self

I have lived in The Heights in Snoqualmie Ridge since 2007. I’ve been a member of the TRES PTSA since it’s inception serving as F.A.C.E./Event Co-Chair for the PTSA for 2 years, PTSA Co-President last year & continuing to serve on the Executive Board as Secretary for my final year. My daughter will be in 5th Grade at TRES for the 2019-20 school year and loves when I come into her classroom to volunteer as Art Docent. I love being involved with my community & I assist with organizing and execution of many local events supporting local merchants & and organizations in the Valley. I most recently Co-Founded JAKZ Group in April 2018 specializing in Marketing & Social Media allowing me to work from home & volunteer during the school day.

Treasurer: Amy Alexander

My son Jacob is a 4th grader at TRES and my daughter Abby is a freshman at MSHS. I enjoy spending time at TRES whether it’s volunteering in Jacob’s classroom, supporting PTSA activities and events, or helping out staff members. I look forward to serving as PTSA Treasurer again this year after being Membership Chair the first two years. I grew up in Florida (Go Gators!) where my parents were both educators—my Mom was a Kindergarten teacher and Primary Reading Specialist for over 30 years—so I’ve always felt strongly about public education and the wonderful experiences and learning opportunities it provides. Prior to being a full-time mom and volunteer, I worked as an environmental engineer in various capacities, including consulting, air quality permitting, and airport operations. Our family is truly blessed to live and play in such a wonderful community and school district!

Corinne Alef, Family and Community Engagement (F.A.C.E.) Chair

Our family fell in love with the Snoqualmie Ridge community in 2007 and it has been everything we could dream of and more. I have a 3rd and 4th grader this year that you will see helping with set up at every PTSA event. I am excited to continue to coordinate the Timber Ridge family events during my fourth year on the TRES PTSA board. In addition to my work with our local PTSA, I am also the Advocacy Chair on the Snoqualmie Valley PTSA Council board which serves to support all the PTSA’s in the district. Also, I am currently working toward my masters in mental health counseling so I can continue to support families in my professional life as well. I look forward to seeing you at a PTSA event!

Krysta Goe, Membership Chair

This is my first year serving on the PTSA and I’m looking forward to becoming even more involved with this amazing school. I have a 2nd grader and a 4th grader who has been with Timber Ridge since its opening year. They have both loved their teachers and classroom experiences each year here and I’ve enjoyed serving as an Art Docent and classroom volunteer. Our family moved to Washington three years ago from Portland Oregon and we still spend our weekends exploring the area to find new hikes, lakes, and nature walks. Prior to transitioning to staying home full time with my children, my background was in accounting and administration.
