The Arc of King County is the oldest non- profit in King County with an 81 year history of promoting and protecting the human and civil rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Arc’s Outreach & Advocacy department helps families access and navigate disability resources across the lifespan while also mobilizing families to become involved with civic engagement to ensure systems are in place to support each person’s full potential.

Robin Tatsuda, MSW, is The Arc’s Director of Information & Family Support, a program within the Outreach & Advocacy Department. Robin’s team provides information, education, and outreach to people with disabilities, their families, and the community. Included in her team’s work is information and support to navigate the special education system. Before coming to The Arc, Robin worked in numerous school districts throughout western Washington as both a contractor and school employee, providing intensive behavior support services for students of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Since coming to The Arc, Robin provides trainings for parents to better understand the special education system so that they may more effectively advocate for their own child, and also recognize gaps within the special education system and opportunities for advocacy.
