2018-19 Board of Directors – Elected Officers
Co-President: Jessica Self
I have lived in The Heights in Snoqualmie Ridge since 2007. I have a daughter who will be in 4th grade at TRES for the 2018-19 school year. I am very involved in the community assisting with organizing and execution of the Snoqualmie Valley Farmers Market, Snoqualmie Valley Block Party & many local events supporting local merchants. I most recently Co-Founded JAKZ Group in April 2018 specializing in Marketing & Social Media allowing me to work from home & volunteer more of my time. I was F.A.C.E. Co-Chair for the PTSA for the past 2 years and look forward to being your PTSA Co-President this year!
Co-President: Shelly Bean
I am honored to serve a third year as an elected officer for Timber Ridge Elementary PTSA. I have many previous experiences that make me a strong and knowledgeable leader and advocate for our community. I worked in the Lake Washington School District for 12 years as an elementary teacher, math and science teacher leader, and staff developer. I have a Master’s Degree in Education and also earned my National Board Teacher Certification as a Middle Childhood Generalist. Now, after a complete 180° life change, I work as a residential real estate broker on the Eastside and general vicinity. I have three children; Madeline who is a 5th grader and 5 year old twins who will begin Kindergarten this year. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to continue to assist in the formation and building of our new school community!
Vice President: Jennifer Martin
I live in the Timbers neighborhood, nice and close to Timber Ridge! We moved to the ridge in 2015 after a short stay in Bellevue and then Issaquah – I joke that we’re slowly moving our way back east since we started out in Toronto. However, we absolutely love it here and I can’t imagine a better place for our kids to grow up and for us to have amazing outdoor family experiences. I have Jackson who is going into 4th and Graydon who is going into 2nd. My background includes a BA in English Language and Literature and a Postgrad in Public Relations. I’m excited to join such a committed and passionate group of people who are happy to work together to help our school and also to connect all us parents so that our community is even stronger.
Secretary: Jeffie Buchanan
It is a pleasure to serve as your secretary on the Timber Ridge PTSA board this year. As a former educator and current board member of the Snoqualmie Valley Schools Foundation, I know that local parent involvement is key to a school’s success. After staying home with my two girls for a time I was ready for a change and went back to work as a residential real estate broker with Windermere. Adele is currently in 3rd grade and Poppy is in 1st grade. I’m looking forward to a great year supporting our outstanding teachers and staff.
Treasurer: Amy Alexander
My son Jacob is a 3rd grader at TRES and my daughter Abby is an 8th grader at CKMS. I enjoy spending time at TRES whether it’s volunteering in Jacob’s classroom, supporting PTSA activities and events, or helping out staff members. I look forward to serving as PTSA Treasurer this year after being Membership Chair the past two years. I grew up in Florida (Go Gators!) where my parents were both educators—my Mom was a Kindergarten teacher and Primary Reading Specialist for over 30 years—so I’ve always felt strongly about public education and the wonderful experiences and learning opportunities it provides. Prior to being a full-time mom and volunteer, I worked as an environmental engineer in various capacities, including consulting, air quality permitting, and airport operations. Our family is truly blessed to live and play in such a wonderful community and school district!
2018-19 Board Members
Christa Brady, Fundraising Chair
This is my first year serving on the PTSA board for Timber Ridge Elementary, and I am already having a blast! It is an honor to work with this wonderful group of people and I look forward to all that will transpire over the 2018-2019 school year. My son will be a first grader at TRES, and I am beginning a new position with Issaquah School District as a Special Education and Counseling Secretary. These new beginnings are so uplifting and exciting! I have a fairly diversified background, beginning with a Biology degree from Mississippi State University. Upon graduation, I worked as an Environmental Biologist for the Department of Defense for over ten years. I then transitioned to project management in multiple arenas, all moving toward the ultimate goal of a career that involves children. The ability to work in the education arena is a monumental blessing, as is service to the school my little boy attends. I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to serve on the TRES PTSA board.
Corinne Alef, Family and Community Engagement (F.A.C.E.) Chair
Our family fell in love with the Snoqualmie Ridge community in 2007 and it has been everything we could dream of and more. I have a 2nd and 3rd grader this year that you will see helping with set up at every PTSA event. I am excited to continue to coordinate the Timber Ridge family events for my second year and watch our Timber Ridge community grow. In addition to my work with our local PTSA, I am also the Advocacy Chair on the Snoqualmie Valley PTSA Council board which serves to support all the PTSA’s in the district. Also, I am currently working toward my masters in mental health counseling so I can continue to support families in my professional life as well. I look forward to seeing you at a PTSA event!
